Kathleen Hayek's monoprints presented by Goloborotko's Studio are portraits of what nature recorded: Katrina's mud lines. Hayek's exposed doors and windows show us that once we've seen the uncovered , we can't go back.   Her openings, unlock a holy universe of imageries and possibilities: quintessential landscapes .

To create each print, she paints an image on a plate of plexigass using etching inks.   She then runs the plate, layered with paper, through a printing press which transfers the image from the plate to the paper.   The result is an original, one-of-a-kind work of art printed in an edition of one, hence the name, mono print / monotype .

She received a BFA in Painting and a BS in Art Education from Louisiana State University and taught art in Louisiana's public high schools. In 1982 she moved from Louisiana Cajun country to New York City while completing her graduate work in Arts Administration at Bank Street College of Education and Parsons School of Design. Hayek has earned local and national acclaim for her urban landscapes in watercolor.

As a visual artist, and community organizer, Kathleen has a 20 year history in Clinton Hill. She is President of the South Of the Navy Yard Artists (SONYA). She works in her studio in Clinton Hill, Brooklyn, and is establishing a new studio in Walton, NY.
